The ideology essay
Every question asks how far the traditions agree on one area. You answer to a large, limited or some extent. Here is the method, then a plan-it-together sort.
The golden rule: group your answer by theme, and within each theme deal with both agreement and disagreement. Do not march through the traditions one by one.
Introduction
- Content: define the key terms.
- Context: show the divides in the ideology.
- Line of argument: state your judgement and a reason.
Each paragraph
- Topic sentence.
- Explain a tradition with a thinker.
- Compare with another tradition.
- Interim judgement with a brief reason.
Conclusion
- Concede the other side.
- Assert: to a large, limited or some extent.
- End on one clear judgement.
