Compare the strands
Liberal, Conservative, Expansionist and Anti/post-colonial nationalism
How this works. Nationalism on Paper 2 has four strands the mark schemes use consistently: Liberal (Rousseau, Mazzini), Conservative (von Herder), Expansionist or chauvinist (Maurras), and Anti or post-colonial (Garvey). The big divide running through the questions is inclusive vs exclusive nationalism, and rational/progressive vs romantic/regressive. Pick an area, draw a random pair, write what each strand says, then write the differences and similarities. Use the green Check my work button. Reveal the model answers when ready. Your work saves automatically.
Differences where the two strands disagree
Write the points of disagreement in your own words. Try to weave the two strands together in each sentence rather than listing them one then the other.
Hint
Similarities where the two strands agree
Even strands that look opposed often share core nationalist ground. Find what they have in common.
